 Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia

Care Seminar®

This course includes the DIGITAL Student Reference Manual.

  • Receive essential instruction on dementia and its care
  • Learn effective communication strategies
  • Learn sensitive methods for assisting in daily activities
  • Recognize typical triggers for frustrations in elderly individuals
  • Learn care strategies that can be employed to prevent, diminish, or eliminate difficult care situations
  • Stress reduction techniques for caregivers
  • Learn alternative activity interventions

Following this course you may choose to apply for your Certified Dementia Practitioner credential through the National Counsel of Certified Dementia Practitioners (nccdp.org).  There is an additional cost for the application. Please contact NCCDP for information on this process.

This seminar is being offered virtually, and is available for the public. The class begins at 8am Mountain time and ends around 5pm.

Champion Courses

12 January 2026

8am to 5pm

This is a skills based person centered course. In this course you will learn immediately applicable skills to improve and enhance your relationship with those for whom you care.

These courses cover a wide range of techniques, including Positive Approach®, Positive Approach to Care®, PAC™, GEMS®, Hand-under-Hand® (HuH™), and Positive Physical Approach™ (PPA™). 

Hands-On Learning: Participants engage in hands-on learning experiences that simulate real-world caregiving situations.

Class size limit is 10 individuals. Lunch not included.

$300 per person

  • Positive Physical Approach™ (PPA™): Learn to make interactions more positive for all.
  • Hand-under-Hand® (HuH®): Begin to appreciate the use of touch to close the loop on communication.
  • Adapt your approach for the different GEMS® States.
  • GEMS® State Recognition: Notice what skills remain at each step of this journey.
